CASEarth is devoted to contributing to the Global Sustainable Development

The 2nd Digital China Summit is held in Fuzhou. On May 7th, at the Digital Marine Belt and Road Sub-Forum held at the summit, GUO Huadong, pointed out that the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China is consistent with the sustainable development goals (SDGs) put forward by the United Nations. Big Earth Data science and technology is an effective tool to promote global sustainable development.

The Big Earth Data Science Engineering Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Strategic Priority Research Program He expounded the relationship among the Big Earth Data, the Belt and Road construction and the SDGs.

He said that Big Earth Data is big data formed by cross-fusion of Earth science, information science, space science. The data mainly comes from Earth observation data, and also includes land, ocean, atmosphere and data related to human activities. Big Earth Data can be utilized to monitor and analyze the sustainable development along the Belt and Road countries.

The construction and development of the“Belt and Road  has the characteristics of large scale, long cycle and complex environment. Many countries are facing challenges of climate change, natural disasters, deterioration of the ecological environment and other issues. "We should consider the problems encountered by the countries along the Belt and Road as a whole, and everyone should cope with it, implement long-term periodic monitoring and analysis, and make full use of Big Earth Data to achieve scientific discovery and provide scientific data for decision-making. " GUO Huadong said. We advocate data sharing  , and  provide decision supportfor Belt and Road countries .

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is aiming for all human beings to produce and consume in a sustainable manner, so that people and nature can develop in harmony and jointly build our Earth. GUO Huadong emphasized that China's joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative is consistent in concept with the SDGs. "The resource evaluation, ecological and agricultural monitoring and analysis of the countries along the Belt and Road that we have done are all closely linked to the 2030 agenda.”

China is contributing to the global sustainable development. The Big Earth Data platform developed byDigital Belt and Road Program (DBAR) includes social statistics data, remote sensing satellite data, navigation and positioning data, ground survey data, etc. The database is open in Chinese, English and French versions. In the future, the platform will also provide data in Russian, Spanish and Arabic.

With the support of Big Earth Data technology, the coordinated development of regional, cross-country social, cultural, environmental and ecological development of the Belt and Road is a common demand of the countries along the Belt and Road.
