China releases "China and the United Nations" and reports on issues such as climate change and sustainable development

On September 26th, 2019 local time, the Chinese delegation attending the 74th United Nations General Assembly officially issued the " China and the United Nations - Position Paper of the People's Republic of China for the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly ", "United Nations Climate Action Summit: China's Position and Action”, "China's Progress Report on Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2019)" and "Big Earth Data in Support of the Sustainable Development Goals.”

"China and the United Nations - the 74th UN General Assembly China’s Position Document" summarizes the achievements and development of cooperation between China and the United Nations in all fields since the founding of New China 70 years ago, especially since the 18th National Party Congress. It is pointed out that the promotion of the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by Chinese President XI Jinping has become the banner of the Chinese diplomacy. Under the guidance of Xi Jinping's diplomatic thinking, China has participated in international affairs in a more active and proactive manner, made greater contributions to world peace and development, and assumed more responsibilities. China has always been a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development and a defender of the international order. The document introduces China's important contributions to the three pillars of UN peace, development, and human rights in ten aspects. It reiterates China‘s firm support and practice of multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations in international affairs. It points out that China’s development and the world’s development resonate at the same frequency and promote each other. It emphasizes that in the face of the world ’s unprecedented changes in the past century The developing China will contribute more and more positive energy to the world.

"United Nations Climate Action Summit: China's Position and Actions" sticks closely to the nine action areas of the United Nations Climate Action Summit and introduces China's policy and propositions on international cooperation on climate change and China's achievements in addressing climate change. As the world’s largest developing country, China takes climate change response as its internal requirement for sustainable development and assumes the responsibility for building a community with a shared future for mankind. It will continue to overcome many difficult challenges facing its own development, firmly maintain multilateralism, and implement international commitment to fully promote the effective implementation of the Paris Agreement.

"China's Progress Report on the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2019)" is China's second progress report following the implementation progress report in 2017. The report comprehensively sorts out China's measures, progress, challenges and next steps in implementing the 2030 Agenda, and shows China's determination and achievements in implementing the new development concept and achieving high-quality development. The report contains cases such as targeted poverty alleviation, innovation leading development, ecological civilization construction, rural revitalization, and joint construction of the Belt and Road initiative, which will provide useful reference for other countries to implement the 2030 agenda.

"Big Earth Data in Support of the Sustainable Development Goals" shows China's exploration and practice of using big earth data technology to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and policy decisions, and it reveals the application value and prospects of related technologies and methods for monitoring and evaluating the sustainable development goals. It provides a new perspective and new support for the international community to fill the gaps in data and methodology and accelerate the implementation of the 2030 agenda.
